After nearly two and a half years the Solomon Islands border opened on July 1st, 2022 and Bilikiki Cruises will be running trips again from August. On this page are the latest entry requirements for the Solomons and other Covid related information, as well as a few things about measles and travel insurance.
The Solomon Islands border opened on July 1st and there are no longer any quarantine requirements. For full details of the entry requirements please see the latest Travel Advisory and Health Advisory that can be found on Solomon Airlines website.
For your convenience we have compiled the relevant parts for international visitors. Please note that this is as accurate as possible but the responsibility to be up to date and make sure all requirements are met lies entirely with the visitor to the country.
- All incoming international passengers 18 years and above must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least four weeks prior to arrival.
- All incoming international travellers to Solomon Islands must provide one pre-arrival Covid-19 PCR negative test taken within 72 hours of their arrival time. Please bear in mind the date line, time difference, any stop overs and time it takes to get the result when organising this.
- Proof of vaccination alongside a negative PCR test result must be emailed to The Ministry of Health at [email protected].
It is best to do this as early as possible within the 72 hours. Getting tested at the airport (especially Brisbane or Nadi) before boarding the flight will not be accepted. You may also need to show your PCR test and proof of vaccination at the airport or on arrival. We recommend bringing both electronic and paper copies of both if possible.
-There is currently a government requirement that a Covid-19 PCR test at day 3 after arrival in the country must be taken. As PCR tests will not be available in the areas you will be visiting with us, we can conduct a RAT test onboard and send in the results.
While we do have RAT tests onboard please bring one or two of your own, supplies in Honiara are not unlimited.
- If you test positive you will be required to self-isolate. Any required hotel isolation is at visitors own expense.
- If you arrive more than 3 days before the trip you will need to arrange for your own government required PCR test with one of the clinics in Honiara. See the advisories for details.
- If you arrive more than one day before the trip we will ask you to do a RAT test before boarding the boat.
This is to ensure the safety of everyone onboard. If your RAT test is positive you will not be able to board and will have to isolate in Honiara at your own expense. Refunds will not be given. Please see our note about insurance below.
All of our crew and staff have undertaken Covid safe training and are vaccinated.
As well as our normal comprehensive cleaning and hygiene procedures we are using electrostatic sprayers for extra protection. We also have air purifiers onboard for use in the cabins.
Vaccination against measles is required for entry into the Solomon Islands. Most people are vaccinated as children against the measles. Proof of vaccination is no longer required on entry though so as long as you can tick that you are vaccinated for measles then there are no other requirements.
As well as the normal mandatory diving evacuation insurance (DAN or equivalent) we also very strongly recommend people get comprehensive travel insurance that covers covid related issues as well as the normal possible problems of travel. Companies like DAN, Dive Assure and Travel Safe all offer travel insurance that covers things like last minute cancellations due to covid, any required hotel isolation or travel change costs and health care. Our normal cancellation policies now apply so please be sure to get travel insurance as we will not refund or reschedule in situations that are now covered by insurance.
While there are no planned changes on the entry requirements at this time please do check the requirements before travelling. Solomon Airlines have current information for entry on their site and we keep this page as up to date as possible. You airline should also keep you updated on any changes or requirements.
Please be as covid safe before and during travelling as possible, keeping covid out of the Solomons and off the boat are important to everyone. From reports from other locations cases of covid on liveaboards are rare and your trip is unlikely to impacted but please take all precautions possible.
