This trip on the Bilikiki we had the pleasure of having a group of guests from the UK and US, including the Dive Maniacs crowd and quite a few repeat guests. Great people for another incredible 11 days!!
The diving was wonderful, as always here in the Solomon Islands! There was amazing atmosphere and beautiful light in Leru Cut and Custom Cave, fantastic marine life at Mary Island and great weather the whole trip, especially in Marovo Lagoon! Some of our guests spent all their surface intervals enjoying the sun bathing on our lovely sun deck!
We were spoiled again with lots of the Solomon regulars: big schools of barracudas, bigeye jacks, different kinds of sharks (including hammerheads), bumphead parrotfish, eagle rays, marble rays, schools of spadefish and as always all the beautiful corals, living reefs so beautiful that they take your breath away. Mbulo Caves was a favourite for the group, with its labyrinth caves and amazing sun beams. We were also very lucky to enjoy a really large pod of dolphins playing with the Bilikiki while we crossed between islands.
The macro life was also stunning, all our lovely marine friends were out and about and we found all the 9 kinds of anemone fish in the Solomons, soft coral crabs, robust ghost pipefish, signal gobies, spearing and peacock mantis shrimps, demon stingers, ribbon eels, winged pipefish, many different flatworms, cuttlefish, octopus, nudibranchs, scorpion leaf fish, electric disco clams, interesting filefish, orangutan crabs and many, many others!
Our guests really enjoyed the way we got our fresh veggies from the villagers in their local canoes, they also loved all the carvings the artists displayed for us when we were in the Marovo Lagoon area and enjoyed discovering a little bit more about the local culture. The beautiful performances in the village of Karumolun were a real highlight for many.
Our guests really enjoyed the diverse diving and we loved sharing it with them. Thank you very much to everyone for being such a great and fun crowd, we hope we will see you all back soon!
Last but not definitely not least, thank you to our amazing crew for the hard work they do and for always being ready to help with every little detail. You guys are incredible!
Happy bubbles to everyone,
Pato and Fernando
