September 10 - 20, 2019 trip.
The Bilikiki is back after a wonderful 10 night trip with the Kona Honu Dive Travel Group from Hawaii and the Got Muck expeditions and photography group.
There were tons of diving highlights that included cuttlefish laying eggs at Mirror Pond, swimming in a school of jacks at Mary Island, a sighting of the rare (never recorded in the Solomons before!) bowmouth shark-ray, seeing both denise and bargibanti pygmy seahorses plus a regular sized seahorse as well, the stunning caves and hard corals of Mbulo Island, the beauty of Kicha, ornate and halimeda ghost pipefish at White Beach, schools of batfish, milkfish and barracudas at Rainbow Reef, Kerri’s find of a rare Galaxea pipefish and last and not least the stunningly beautiful WW2 wrecks along Guadalcanal. There were so many great things to see it is hard to list them all!!
We had a great time above water too with sightings of dolphins and whales, some serious games of marbles and a fun time at the infamous floating bar which was topped off with a really beautiful sunset! The village visits to see and buy the local wood carvings in the Marovo Lagoon area and the cultural visit in the Russell Islands were also top fun and a great way to meet the locals. Some people bought some stunning carvings which will always remind them of the Solomon Islands.
It was a great crowd and a lot of fun, we hope to see everyone back soon!! A big thank you to Pato, Fernando and all of the Bilikiki crew for looking after us so well.
Cheers,
Kellie Oldfield
